FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

1. How long does line paint take to dry?

Our line paint dries in less than 30 minutes. Work zones will be coned off until they are fully ready for traffic.

2. What type of paint do you use for line striping?

We offer a couple options depending on your needs, including water-based and solvent-based paints. Our standard is a low VOC solvent-based paint (oil based), known for its durability and quick drying time.

3. Why is crack sealing important?

Crack sealing prevents water from penetrating the asphalt. When water seeps into cracks, it weakens the base, leading to potholes and costly damage. Proper sealing extends pavement life, prevents further cracking, and saves money on major repairs.

4. How long does crack sealant take to cure?

Crack sealant typically cures within a few hours, but it’s ready for traffic in about 30 minutes to an hour. Drying time varies based on temperature and humidity.

5. Can you repair potholes in any season?

Pothole repairs cannot be done in winter due to cold temperatures preventing proper bonding. Repairs are best completed in spring, summer, and fall.

6. What causes parking lot cracks and potholes?

Water is a major culprit. When water seeps into small cracks, it freezes and expands in winter, making the cracks larger. Over time, repeated freeze-thaw cycles break down the asphalt, leading to potholes. Poor drainage, heavy traffic, and aging asphalt also contribute to deterioration.

7. Do you offer custom stenciling for parking lots?

Yes! We provide custom stenciling, including company logos, branded markings, and specialty designs to enhance your parking lot’s look and professionalism.

8. How soon can I drive on a newly striped lot?

You can drive on a freshly painted lot after 30 minutes, but we recommend avoiding sharp turns or heavy braking immediately after application to preserve the markings.

9. What does "Low VOC" mean?

Low VOC refers to paints and coatings with reduced levels of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)—chemical solvents that evaporate into the air and can impact air quality. A low VOC product typically contains less than 50 grams per liter, minimizing harmful emissions. This results in better indoor air quality, reduced environmental impact, and a more sustainable choice for line marking and pavement maintenance.
